Frances Whitman Wildlife artist

About Frances Whitman

Following the Discovery of a natural talent for painting and drawing, Wildlife Artist Frances Whitman has met with acclaim for her animal paintings and drawings.

Entirely self taught, she finds that using Faber-Castell colour pencils is the most effective media for achieving the fine details in her drawings. For her paintings, Frances works in oils and acrylics.

Frances Whitman began painting in 1992 and first entered the (PAWS) Paint a Wildlife Subject competition run by internationally acclaimed wildlife artist Roy Chaffin in 1994, when she won a commendation in the mixed media category. The following year she won the best Monochrome entry and in 1996 she won not only the Best Mixed Media prize, but Best Overall Picture from thousands of other entries.

To Frances the most challenging aspect of her work is capturing eye expression, the life and soul of her pictures.
