My latest painting, a 40 x 60 inches oil painting of 6 elephants entitled 'Stragglers' is now completed.
Below you can see the different stages...........

Above More detailing has been painted onto the elephants
Above I have now started to paint in the detail on the main elephant and the smaller one behind I have also painted in a rough background
Above The hills in the distance are now visible and the foreground has now been roughly painted in.
Above I have now painted the first layer of the sky to give an indication of the colour.
Above I have now roughly painted all 6 elephants and I am looking forward to putting in the background, which will be the next stage of the painting ..........
Above The third elephant in the column walking towards you has now been painted.
Above I have now painted 'the stragglers' in the distance.
Above The second elephant is now just peeping out behind the first.
Above The main elephant which will be the focus of the painting is now roughly painted in, 5 to go!
Above I have painted the canvas with this vivid orange background to give an underlying warmth and to stop any of the white canvas showing through the finished painting. I have also at this stage drawn in a rough outline of the 6 elephants and am now painting on a thin layer of colour to map out the shadows and highlights.
